On January 19, 2008, a long-awaited ceremony took place in the little town of Petite Riviere de Nippes in southwest Haiti. Visitation Clinic was dedicated and a huge celebration followed. Haitians from the seven-region area surrounding Petite Riviere joined with more than 30 Americans in the celebration. The Bishop of Les Cayes, Monsignor Alix Verrier presided at a Liturgy at the local church. Then a procession took place from the church to the Clinic about a mile up the road. After a few speeches, the ribbon was cut and all were invited to enter the Clinic for the first time. Today, there are 24 employees at the Clinic with 23 of them Haitian, and they are treating 80-90 patients on average each day. The first patient was Fileurine Fuontilus, who received a gift basket from Dr. Rony Jean Francois, clinic medical director. Along with receiving medical treatment, patients have access to the food bank, where protein nuggets are distributed. Future plans call for the construction of an Ambulatory Surgery Center, expansion of current staffing quarters, and continuing to maintain Clinic operations. Your gift will go a long way to provide hope and healing for the people of Haiti.
