The Parish Twinning Program of the Americas (PTPA) is hosting a national multipurpose conference focused on improving parish twinning relationships between Haiti and the U.S.
The conference will be held on Friday, October 10 through Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Radisson Hotel Indianapolis Airport, 2500 South High School Road, just "37 steps" from the airport! Some of the objectives of the conference will be to offer concrete ways to build and strengthen sister parish relationships; to highlight resources and model programs for improving conditions in twin parish communities including health care, environmental, and educational initiatives; to help medical teams provide effective and efficient health care services to address the unique needs in Haiti and other third world countries, and to offer the opportunity to network and share with other parishes and medical teams. The conference audience is targeted toward members of the Parish Twinning Program and any health care professionals, laypersons, or volunteers, who are called to meet the needs of developing countries through mission work and Christian stewardship. The keynote speaker is Father Gerard Jean-Juste, an outspoken advocate and Haitian voice for human rights, economic justice, and democracy. The cost is $175 per person, which includes conference atttendance, four meals, and the 30th Anniversary Celebration. Rooms are $79.00 per night, plus tax, based on single and double occupancy.
